Upcycled Dress with a Babydoll Silhouette

Sewing naturally leads to collecting materials—fabric remnants, old clothes, anything with potential. After a few years, my stash had grown enough that I wanted to challenge myself to use what I already owned. This dress was one of those projects. Influenced by the upcycled dresses with a babydoll silhouette I’d seen on Pinterest and the materials available to me, I decided to experiment. The dress is made from a handful of graphic tees and a few old flannel shirts.

A Space for Creative Experimentation

One of my favorite parts of sewing is the ability to experiment—trying new fabrics, shapes, and ideas that can turn into unexpectedly delightful garments. Sewing may have its guidelines,

but very few of them are absolute. There’s so much space to explore textures, silhouettes, stitching techniques, and whatever else curiosity inspires.
