A Peasant Top in a Medieval Style
This top was loosely inspired by medieval peasant dresses and designed to pair with my floor‑length green skirt. Together, they create a complete costume ensemble that can be styled with a chemise or a billowy blouse for different looks. The piece is made from cotton and constructed with lacing, ribbon, and metal grommets.
Warm, stylish, and dramatic. An ode to History
While studying historical fashion is a major part of my passion, I’m equally fascinated by the fantasy aesthetics inspired by those garments. There’s something compelling about the way history becomes a springboard for imagination, offering shapes, textures, and silhouettes that storytellers reinterpret again and again.
The contrast between true historical clothing and the imaginative versions created in later decades reveals a lot about what captures our attention and creativity. Fantasy designs often exaggerate or simplify certain elements, highlighting what feels most iconic or emotionally resonant about a period rather than what was strictly accurate.
Seeing these two approaches side by side makes it easier to understand how styles evolve over time. Historical garments show us the practical realities of dress, while fantasy versions show us how those same forms can be reshaped to fit new narratives, aesthetics, and cultural expectations.
Together, they reveal which details continue to resonate with us across time—whether it’s a particular silhouette, a method of construction, or simply the feeling a garment evokes. That interplay between accuracy and imagination is where so much of my inspiration lives.
