Side Tie Top

This style of top was all over the summer of 2024, and I felt inspired to make my own. With no existing pattern that captured the look I wanted, I drafted one from scratch and stitched it up using leftover cotton from previous projects. It was a surprisingly enjoyable make, and the finished piece has become a favorite. I’ve reused the pattern a few times now, making small alterations as needed, because the silhouette is so clean, easy, and adaptable.

Echoes of Inspiration

Sewing doesn’t always have to be about creating something brand new. It’s just as fun to take inspiration from existing trends and ideas and give them your own twist. There’s a special kind of creativity that comes from reinterpreting what

already exists—studying a silhouette, a detail, or a moment in fashion and reshaping it into something that feels personal. It’s a reminder that sewing is as much about exploration as it is about invention.
