The Belladonna Vest
This vest, along with the pattern I drafted for it, was inspired by one of my favorite films, The Hobbit. The costumes in that story have always captivated me, and I wanted to create a piece that carried some of that warmth and charm into my everyday wardrobe. I blended those fantasy elements with details from 1890s vests, weaving together a quiet thread of history to give the design a sense of depth and make it feel rooted in both fantasy and fashion history.
Vests, and Skirts, and Blouses, Oh My
Hobbit fashion leans heavily on historical silhouettes—soft blouses, shin‑length trousers and skirts, and the ever‑present vests. The use of natural materials fits their rural, earth‑bound lifestyle and gives the
wardrobe a warm, well‑loved feeling. I adore the gentle medieval undertones and the focus on simple, natural textiles. Fashion is a storyteller, and in The Hobbit, it speaks with such clarity and charm.
